Buyer demand in suburban areas nationwide is fierce, and millennials are the driving force. Realtor.com® identified the most sought-after suburbs in the country by evaluating home appreciation, home construction activity, and population growth in more than 7,000 ZIP codes. “A fast-growing suburb gets that way by attracting builders—working up a business case for people to come in and build their community,” says Javier Vivas, director of economic research at realtor.com®. “These [are places that] have what people want. They aren’t right in the city, and they aren’t too far out, where commute times are long.” These are the fastest-growing suburbs, according to realtor.com®: 1. Apex, N.C. (metro area: Raleigh, N.C.)

  • Three-year price appreciation: 13.4 percent
  • Three-year home listing increase: 70.7 percent
3. Frisco, Texas (metro area: Dallas)
  • Median list price: $474,200
  • Three-year price appreciation: 21.2 percent
  • Three-year home listing increase: 177.9 percent
4. Scottdale, Ga. (metro area: Atlanta)
